You hear these terms everywhere. You see them in social media posts, teachings, workshops, and so much more—and that's a good thing! I am a strong supporter of all of this because it influences the dynamics of your life.
These words are often used to describe the inner processes of consciousness, because that is, after all, what we are.
So what do they actually mean?
Vibration is the quality and movement of your energy—your emotions. How do you feel? Calm, anxious, frustrated, jealous, angry, sad... Your emotions give "color" to your experience.
Frequency is the pattern through which your consciousness organizes itself. It includes your thoughts, beliefs, what you hold to be true, your habits, and the meaning you assign to the events around you.
Coherence is the alignment between the different layers of yourself. For example, you think, "I am safe." You genuinely feel calm, your body is relaxed, and your behavior reflects that state. That is coherence.
But if you say or think, "I am safe," while at the same time you feel anxious, your body will remain tense. In that case, there is no coherence.
Coherence is when your thoughts, emotions, body, and behavior support one another instead of working against each other.
If you see it as a series of layers, you could picture it like this:
Consciousness → Beliefs → Emotions → Body → Behavior → Experience
When all of these are pointing in the same direction, coherence emerges.
There is also scientific research on heart coherence, particularly related to heart rate variability (HRV), which we measure during our retreat in Andalusia.
In this scientific context, coherence refers to a specific physiological state:
Your breathing becomes rhythmic and regular.
Your heart rhythm forms a harmonious pattern.
Your nervous system comes into balance, allowing your body to function more optimally.
As a result, people often experience greater calm, clearer thinking, and increased emotional stability.
If I were to summarize it:
Your beliefs largely determine your mental frequency. That frequency influences which emotions arise most easily—your "vibration." When your beliefs, thoughts, emotions, body, and behavior are aligned, coherence naturally emerges.
